The Restaurant
The restaurant reflects David’s love for storied pieces — salvaged from old buildings and treasure yards across the country — giving Cafe Bistrot David its unique character. Split across two levels, guests can choose the lively charm of the ground floor or a quieter, intimate dining experience upstairs. Each space tells a different chapter of the same story.
GROUND FLOOR
Step into the warm, bustling charm of the ground floor dining room, where modern European fare is served beneath a hand-painted ceiling that evokes the timeworn patina of classic bistros. A 10-seater curved bar anchors the space, surrounded by personal touches — from David’s collection of vintage tiffins to detailed linocuts and black-and-white photographs by award-winning photographer SC Shekar — creating a setting that’s casual, familiar, and family-friendly.
THE FIRST FLOOR
Upstairs, terracotta tiles over a century old guide you to a more intimate space. Stained glass windows salvaged from the home of a Javanese sugar baron, and a sculptural iron balustrade hand-forged from 1950s cast-offs, lend the room its soul. Here, the Spanish-imported Mibrasa charcoal oven takes centre stage — a result of David’s fire-fuelled curiosity that took him to Spain to learn from the masters themselves.
Catering exclusively to dinner service, the upstairs space extends the bistro’s spirit with a more refined, soulful energy. It’s perfect for intimate dinners, groups, or private events for up to 50 people — with two private rooms and flexible partitions that allow for more exclusive settings.

CHEF PATRON
Veteran restaurateur and self-taught chef, David Chin returned from retirement in 2020 to open Cafe-Bistrot David — a personal kitchen playground inspired by his passion for good food and great company. With over 30 years of experience, David draws from a lifetime of taste memories, travels, and treasured meals to craft deeply satisfying, ingredient-driven dishes. Unbound by convention, his cooking blends French, Japanese, and Malaysian influences with precision, soul, and a touch of playfulness — always evolving, always from the heart.
